Gresham, Oregon – The City of Music

With a population of about 100,000, Gresham is the fourth biggest city in the State of Oregon. It is situated in the Pacific Northwest, east of Portland with an area of 57.4 km or 22.2 square miles. It is ideally located between two of the best recreation area in Oregon – Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood. Gresham is a place with a rich history and culture to share.

Known as the City of Music, Gresham entertains tourists with their music especially during their annual festivals. One of the most famous festivals is Mt. Hood Jazz Festival. It started in 1982, and it is an event that aims to promote jazz as an art form that is uniquely American. After watching the festival, you could roam around and visit the area attractions. Gresham offers some of the best golf courses in Oregon that will amaze people with the astounding views that will surely challenge one’s sports skill. There are also a number of city parks where you can spend the day resting. Some of these include the Main City Park, Pat Pfeiffer Park, Zimmerman Historic Park and the Youth Sports Park that is still yet to open. If you want to be active, you can always go to the Springwater Corridor which is a trail converted for recreation and transportation purposes. You should not miss visiting Mt. Hood National Forest where you can freely go hiking, biking, and fishing. There is also the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area that will astonish the tourist with its amazing views.

Aside from the area attractions, there are also a lot of shopping areas selling Gresham’s finest. You can start off in the famous Historic Downtown Gresham packed with shops that cater to everyone. There is also the Gresham Area Farmer’s Market, an event that is something to watch out for.

There are a number of lodgings and hotels that can accommodate the tourists after a day of shopping and visiting the recreational areas. Aside from that, there are also a number of restaurants in the city that will give the people an ultimate dining experience with their dishes and fine music.

With their shopping areas, restaurants, lodging and most of all recreational areas, you will feel welcomed and will get a glimpse of the history and culture of Gresham that is truly their own.
